I’ve been blessed to spend much of my career working alongside some incredible dynamic counselling and therapy teams who have shaped my approach to this work immensely.
A thread running through that work has been bringing counselling into communities and spaces where people might never have engaged in going to therapy – whether there were financial barriers to access, stigma, or because they haven’t seen themselves represented in traditional mental health and wellness spaces.
And that has always stayed with me.
Therapeutic mental health and wellbeing support can create powerful spaces for understanding ourselves, personal development and navigating what life throws at us leading to vital change individually and as groups. I think it’s made particularly meaningful for marginalised and minoritised communities as we face systemic and historical contexts that impact our solo and collective healing.
Bringing together a group of passionate like-minded practitioners felt like the way to bring to life more ways to contribute to that collective healing.
